Highway Inventory

An up-to-date inventory of signs, markings and other highway infrastructure is vital for efficient management and to meet the requirements of the Traffic Management Act. It is imperative that data is maintained and updated, so Buchanan Computing systems integrate the change processes with the permanent inventory.

We offer specialist tools for recording and managing particular types of highway inventory, plus a general tool, InvMap, that processes and displays any type of data. All these TraffMap systems may be integrated, allowing the different data to be displayed together on the same map background.

Signs and lines

LineMap is our innovative tool for road markings that combines intelligent and productive drawing tools with a permanent repository for a whole area of white, yellow (and red) lines, with their maintenance records.  It links closely to ParkMap, which keeps an inventory of regulatory measures on the highway.

SignMap is a map-based signing inventory for maintenance and record-keeping purposes, combined with a tool for designing new signing schemes. It provides for sign faces and their map locations to be shown on a single drawing, and allows signing proposals to be designed separately from the permanent record.

Multi-purpose inventory

As well as recording physical assets, InvMap may be used to store reports, traffic surveys, safety audits, tree preservation orders and any other document, image or data that relates to a map location. It fully integrates with all our other TraffMap systems, enhancing any other application with additional information and symbols.

Highway status and processes

For keeping track of the status and boundary of highways and managing legal processes, HighwayMap combines a GIS of highway extents with a system for producing and managing correspondence relating to adoption and other changes.
