Survey set-up |
MicroMatch is a clear and comprehensive way to tackle registration number matching and analysis. It is easy for beginners to use, having a range of flexible editing and presentational tools combined with its ability to import and process data in a variety of formats.
Simple to use but with powerful features for advanced analysis
Copes with all types of moving vehicle and parking surveys and combinations of the two
On-screen data entry with error checking
Journey times to nearest second if required
Built-in Furness expansion with optional total flow entry
Unmatched vehicles reprocessed by matching similar characters
Identifies residents' vehicles in parking beat surveys
Positive and negative limits on valid travel times

Registration plate entry |
Gathering registration number data to survey traffic movements or assess car park use is only the first step to effective analysis. The real work starts back at the office, when the registrations are compared and conclusions are drawn. Generic database or spreadsheet software is not well-suited to the task, which can prove complex and time-consuming.
MicroMatch is tailor-made for the job, offering customised data entry, editing and matching abilities and a range of tabulated output options.
The familiar Windows environment of MicroMatch makes it accessible to users with the minimum of experience, yet it is highly configurable to allow for customised analysis and presentation.
Set up your own parametersWith MicroMatch you can set up your own range of parameters to describe your survey. They can include the survey total, start and end times, the length of registration number, the number of survey sites (with their names), the number of vehicle types, and (where appropriate) the parking beat patrol times.
Enter your own data Registration information may be entered from within MicroMatch using a simple error-checked data entry screen, or alternatively it may be imported from disk file. Data is checked for input errors. Time can be interpolated in cases where it is not recorded for every vehicle. The survey data can be recalled and edited. The software imposes no limit on the number of registrations for an individual site.
Sorting and matching facilities
Processing of all sites together, or on any selection. Travel time through the survey area can be constrained by an upper and lower limit, and the lower can be negative. Selected vehicle types can be processed separately or ignored completely. The period of analysis can be shorter than that of the survey as a whole. Matching can be constrained so that inbound vehicles will only match outbound vehicles (unless the site is specified as two-way). For parking beat surveys, vehicles observed during the first patrol can be assumed to belong to residents, and their parking patterns can be tabulated separately.

Extensive error-checking and reportingWhen vehicles fail to match your specified criteria, explanatory messages are attached to their registrations. Unmatched vehicles can be reprocessed to allow for similar characters which may have been confused, or the matrix can be expanded by a Furness process to allow for recording errors.
Data export facility The trip and duration matrices produced by the matching process can be written to a disk file for transferring to a spreadsheet or word-processing program.
