Easy access to photographic records |
SignMap is a comprehensive, map-based traffic sign design, display and management system.
Through integration of maintenance and other inventory functions with a design tool for new signing schemes, the permanent record is kept updated and fewer costly design mistakes occur. SignMap provides the means to tackle both these requirements and can aid visualisation (e.g. for public consultation) with its colourful display.
Colour coding by sign type
Accurate positioning and orientation of signs and posts on a map base
Access to sign face or photograph with a single mouse click
Flexible labelling and annotation of signs from stored data
Display of ducting and cabling for illuminated signs
|
Sign information screen |
Proposals and designs kept separately from permanent inventory
Configurable database to store dimensions, mounting, manufacture and maintenance information
Junction plans produced with signs clearly marked and referenced
Query facility to access information on particular signs
Post and foundation calculations
Bills of quantity produced
Export of annotated maps, text and reports to most spreadsheets and word processors
Seamless links to SignPlot and SignRoute
Password access to protect data
View sign informationSignMap displays the locations of all traffic signs (directional, warning, regulatory and informatory) on a map background along with the sign face. Access to construction details, site conditions and maintenance records is readily available. Site photographs can be incorporated to form a comprehensive record available to all who need it. If a sign is lost or damaged, all the information required to obtain and install a replacement is immediately to hand.
Generate junction plansSignMap can generate detailed junction plans, complete with labelled and referenced sign faces and sign schedules for contract documents. The ability of SignMap to distinguish between proposed and existing signs and those to be removed provides clear guidance to designers and those working on site.
Create new signsFor users of SignPlot software for sign design, the completed signs, along with all construction and mounting details, are imported directly, while measuring tools and a zoom facility enable the location of signs to be recorded accurately.
Edit and update existing sign recordsFor users with password access, maintenance records and sign information can be updated from a series of pull-down menus. The results of site visits, reports and any necessary action can be added to form a full history of the sign.
Generation of reportsThe traffic signs database can be interrogated to produce tabulations or summary reports of particular signs, types of signs, or those associated with particular contracts or schemes. SignMap can list the location, illumination details, condition and any other item of interest for all signs of a particular type or TSRGD diagram number. This can facilitate the planning of maintenance or upgrade programmes for signing. |
Powerful signs locatorSignMap can interrogate the information on a sign to find, for example, all signs containing a particular route number, destination or times of operation.
Bills of quantityFor major re-signing projects, an optional module enables the production of finished bills of quantity in Method of Measurement for Highway Works form. Additional items can be incorporated into entries generated from new signs and those scheduled for removal.
Open systemsSignMap has facilities to connect to other systems and to link to external data sources. It is a member of the TraffMap suite of traffic engineering systems that enable many types of information to be viewed simultaneously on the same base map. The ParkMap link enables parking plates to be viewed and edited within ParkMap, with any changes automatically appearing in SignMap. Base mapping may be read from most GIS servers without replication or conversion. Reports and map extracts can be directly transferred into word processing packages for incorporation into contract documents, committee or other reports. |
