ParkMap
ParkMap is the UK’s leading solution for providing local authorities with an accessible map-based inventory of parking and moving traffic regulations.
Integrated with this are full facilities for the order making process, to aid productivity and keep the permanent records updated.
ParkMap has the functionality needed to manage and communicate a regularly changing set of traffic orders.
ORDER MAKING
- Manages proposals, amendment orders, consolidation of existing measures, temporary suspensions, revocations, and experimental orders
- Design-driven order making process
- Productivity tools speed the drawing, editing and labelling of lines and carriageway areas
- Security features ensure the integrity and consistency of maps and legal records
- Generates text-based order schedules and map-based order schedules
- Updates confirmed orders whenever a proposal comes into effect
LINKS
- Links to Microsoft Office, enabling map extracts, reports and tabulations to be included in other documents
- Integrates with leading notice processing systems for managing enforcement, representation and appeals
- Exports to and reads from other GIS and web mapping systems
- Links to SignPlot and LineMap for vertical and horizontal signing of regulations
- Share your ParkMap data online by making it available via TraffWeb
- Extend ParkMap’s functionality to manage speed limits and moving traffic restrictions with MovingOrders Map
ORDER MANAGEMENT
- Map-linked database of all parking and moving vehicle orders
- Information for engineers, enforcements, appeals, maintenance and Traffic Management Act purposes readily available
- History – display orders as they were at any point in time
- Inventory of meters, ticket machines, signs and plates
MODULAR STRUCTURE
- Optional modules enable ParkMap to be tailored to meet different needs. These include:
- Accurate drawings of road markings created from traffic order information
- Parking plate designs made to TSRGD 2002 and DfT requirements, including bilingual signs for Wales Photographs, documents and other files linked to regulations and map locations
- Highway inventory for street furniture and non-regulatory information
- Connectivity with Oracle™ providing authority-wide access to server-based data
- Easy management of speed limits and moving traffic restrictions (i.e. banned turns, height and width restrictions, prohibited access, etc)
Download a brochure of the additional modules available for ParkMap here.
Its also possible to make your ParkMap data available to others online.

PARKMAP – FEATURES IN DETAIL
Existing and Historical Orders
Normally, ParkMap shows all current traffic orders. It handles waiting and loading restrictions, parking places, loading bays, bus stop clearways and other kerbside controls, as well as moving traffic measures such as pedestrian zones, prohibited movements, bus lanes, lorry bans and speed limits. Orders may be located and displayed by type, street, times of operation, date and order reference. A mouse click reveals the information relating to that restriction, and the order document, photographs and sign images that are accessible. To answer historic enforcement and legal enquiries, orders may be shown as they were on a particular date.
Powerful Order Making
Any number of proposals may be worked on independently of the permanent data, with password protection to prevent unintentional changes. Proposed orders may be modified or abandoned following consultation without compromising the confirmed orders. There is no need to input data a second time to update the permanent inventory: once an order commences the details are transferred automatically to the main database.
Rapid Data Entry
A restriction is drawn by marking its start and end points. Kerb and centre lines are followed automatically, and setting-out and measuring tools are available. Terminal marks and boundaries of individual bays are added if needed. The same quick data entry technique can create diagrammatic lines, shade in carriageway areas and produce accurate road marking drawings. Data may be added immediately after drawing, or proposals may be purely illustrative. Selecting from pre-set options and copying previous entries saves time and ensures consistency. ParkMap may be used for on-site data capture using tablet computers.
Traffic Order Production
Two optional modules produce, store and manage complete traffic order documents, either traditional text schedules of with maps as the definitive record. ParkMap handles the creation, security and retrieval of these documents, keeping superseded documents available for answering enquiries relating to specific dates. For map schedules, ParkMap manages a master grid of map tiles and labels restrictions intelligently using its stored data. ParkMap minimises the possibility of errors or omissions in all types of document and provides the flexibility to manage traffic orders in the way authorities prefer.
Open Systems
ParkMap has facilities to connect to other systems and to link to external data sources. It is a member of the TraffMap suite of traffic engineering systems that enable many types of information to be viewed simultaneously on the same base map. ParkMap can work seamlessly with the UK’s leading notice-processing packages. Base mapping may be read from most GIS servers without replication or conversion. Data import and export to standard formats protects the security and value of the investment made in assembling traffic order data, as well as providing interoperability with almost any other GIS including internet and intranet systems. An NSG-compliant or other gazetteer may be linked, and its references automatically incorporated into ParkMap data.
